Most missing Fetch points come down to five things: an item wasn't read from the receipt, the receipt was older than 14 days, it had already been scanned, it's a type Fetch doesn't accept, or you hit the receipt limit. If items or points are missing from a receipt you've already submitted, you can fix it yourself within three days of submitting: open Points activity, tap the receipt, tap the pencil icon and add or correct the item. Fetch says it reviews corrections and awards missing points within 24 hours.

Key takeaways

Fix 1: add or correct missing items (within 3 days)

Fetch's help centre gives these steps for a receipt you've already submitted:

  1. Tap the Account tab, then Points activity.
  2. Find the receipt (you can search by submission date).
  3. Tap the pencil icon in the top corner.
  4. Tap the item to correct, or Add Item if it was missed completely.
  5. Scan the product's barcode for the best match, or search for it with Find Product.
  6. Adjust the quantity and price, tap Update details, then Submit changes.

The item must be printed on the receipt; Fetch can't verify purchases on receipts that don't list items.

Fix 2: check the receipt wasn't too old

Fetch only accepts receipts submitted within 14 days after the transaction date. Scanning receipts the day you shop is the simplest habit that prevents lost points.

Fix 3: check it wasn't already scanned

A receipt can only be submitted once. If it was rejected as a duplicate and you're sure you didn't scan it, ask anyone you shopped with.

Fix 4: make sure the receipt type is accepted

Fetch doesn't accept return receipts; utility, medical and service bills; prescription refill slips; movie, concert and experience tickets; airline tickets and bag tags; ATM and bank slips; handwritten receipts; or takeout slips without the restaurant name, total or date. Only receipts from the US and Puerto Rico count. Our list of what receipts you can scan goes into more detail.

Fix 5: capture the store name, date and total

A photo that cuts off the top or bottom can fail. Fetch needs the store name, checkout date and total spent in the image. For long receipts, take several photos in good light on a flat, dark surface. See receipt scanning tips.

Fix 6: check the receipt limit

Fetch accepts 35 receipts over an 8-day period. After a big week of shopping, later receipts can be rejected until the window moves on, so scan receipts with bonus items first.

Fix 7: give online-order points time

Points for online purchases can take longer than a snapped paper receipt. Fetch's help centre says they can show as pending and take up to 14 days to appear. Don't also snap a paper copy of the same order, which can be rejected as a duplicate.

Fix 8: update the app, then contact support

If receipts won't submit at all, Fetch suggests updating to the latest app version. Still missing points after that? Contact Fetch support from the app with the receipt date, store and the items that didn't credit.
